I think that the ideas of Steve Denning are progressive and promising. All of seven principles of continuous innovation in the workplace should work together in order to achieve better results. I completely agree with Steve Denning who argues that it is high time to make changes in today’s traditional management. As the competitiveness of the market is constantly increasing, it is very important for the organizations to pay special attention to each client individually. The team members should work with each client in order to delight each client. Moreover, radical management will help to improve the employees’ satisfaction. The employees will work better, and feel more freely. They will be able to take an active part in the working process because their work will be based on interactive communication. Self-organizing teams can become high-performance teams because the members feel themselves responsible for the team’s success and try to do everything possible to achieve the major goals of the team. (Denning 94)
It is known that radical management was first introduced in some “isolated structures of economy” including car manufacturing and software development systems. Today, radical management enters other sectors of economy, such as finance, construction and consulting systems. Steve Denning is sure that this progressive approach can be used in any type of organization. I agree with the author of the book The Leader’s Guide to Radical Management who states that traditional command and control system is inappropriate for today’s age of customer capitalism when it is necessary to develop the continuous value innovation in order to delight clients. Moreover, it is proved that those managers who adhere to radical management get more job satisfaction than the managers who work according to the principles of traditional management. According to the statistical data, in most organizations, where the above mentioned principles of continuous value innovation have already been effectively introduced, the results include the increase in productivity in four times. It means that radical management is really a new effective approach to management in today’s organizations.(Steve Denning, Official Site)
In conclusion, it is necessary to say that traditional management cannot provide effectiveness and high performance in the workplace due to rapid change in the workplace environment. That is why it requires continuous adaptation and innovation. Such components of traditional management as hierarchy, tightly planned work of the staff, standardized HR management practices, command and control structure of the work, product innovations based on new technological advantages which lead to low performance and customers’ dissatisfaction should be changes into the fundamentally new managing methods – radical management.
The system of radical management is based on the increased value of the organization’s goals. Steven Denning as a highly skilled leader gives an opportunity to improve the organization’s performance and productivity by means of seven principles of radical management. The only condition which should be taken into account is that all the principles of continuous value innovation should work together because in radical management, they are interlinked. It is known that clients value those organizations where special attention is paid to the desires of clients. They can even promote the services of this organization to their friends, family members or colleagues what increases productivity in conditions of the competitive market
